Meet Our New President, Maria Nahom

A Connecticut native all her life, Maria grew up in Farmington and graduated from the University of Connecticut, where she met her husband Edmund. They lived in Danbury a short while, raised their five children in Brookfield and now reside in New Milford.

A Past President of The Danbury Garden Club, Maria is a Flower Show Judge, and Gardening Studies Consultant. Maria’s first FGCCT board position was Book Chairman, followed by Flower Show School/Credentials Chairman. She is a Life Member of FGCCT, NGC and Danbury Garden Club.

A member of CT Judges Council and Creative Arrangers of CT, Maria’s designs have appeared in The National Gardener and the “Vision of Beauty” calendar.

One of the most meaningful positions Maria held is NGC and NER Blue Star Memorial Chairman 2001-2007. This program, which began in 1945, honors all our service men and women, past, present and future.

Time not taken up with garden club activities is spent traveling to see her children and eight grandchildren, working in her garden and a bit of knitting to relax.
